Overview of the introductory class:
The workshop focus is the hands-on use of Isadora (created by troika ranch founder mark coniglio) in installation and live performance (music, theater, dance). It is taught from a perspective of using Isadora both as a stand-alone software tool, and as a tool for integrating / controlling a diverse range of devices and software for installation and performance.
Examples of what Isadora can easily interact with include live and recorded video & audio, lighting, midi controllers, motion sensors, sensor platforms like the arduino, and using software tools like Midi or OSC to interact with devices like i-phones and music software (like Abelton Live or Max-MSP).
The initial class sessions will be focused on the basics of working with isadora, and working with simple video & audio set-ups. The latter half of the workshop is targeted toward the practical application to student projects and an optional end of workshop informal showing on the last thurs evening. No prior programming experience required.
Workspace in both studios at the MilkBar will be available.
