Feb 3rd 2007. The 2007 Milkbar International Live Film Festival presents the League of Imaginary Scientists and blindsight in:
thirty-seven isolated events also 'these are my arms holding you, tearing you apart.' Alone in desert of noise, a young soldier forces up hatred to steady his rightness in war. thirty-seven isolated events begins with the normal running temperature of the human body and gradually fabricates a facsimile body. As the noise of our networked society creates intimate distance and distant intimacy, our mediated experience induces a virtual sensibility sanctioning long-distance killing and allowing our personal daily denial of that remote cause and effect. Our breath dictates, and is dictated by, our daily acceptance of our means to ends. Breathing becomes a mechanized process the human biological system hybridized with the global system. Simultaneously, our own risk towards intimacy and trust create an opening to move away from our dispassionate, dried-up and mechanized daily violences and our network allows for unprecedented contact and communication among us. blindsight artistic director paige starling sorvillo collaborates with Los Angeles-based media artist lucy h g; UK-based Australian composer duo imaginationandmymother (susan hawkins and olivia pisani); and SF/Oakland-based performers jez lee of Twincest, monique goldwater of Takami's Mobu and isabelle sjahsam of Leyya Tawil's Dance Elixir. Their creative collaboration offers a striking visual meditation on remote-access war and our daily complicity in the violence of the globalist/capitalist project. thirty-seven isolated events is presented by the San Francisco Asian Art Museum and is supported in part by the Zellerbach Family Fund and Asian American Dance Performances. paige starling sorvillo is honored to be a 2007 CHIME mentorship awardee with marc bamuthi joseph. ____________________________________________________ CONTEMPORARY BUTOH TECHNIQUE & IMPROVISATION WORKSHOPS & CLASSES - FEBRUARY 2007, San Francisco still (unstill). dance to unquiet mind.(pre-registration deadline 2/14)... still (unstill) dance to unquiet the mind. there is nothing before you but an ocean of dream.
