The workshop focus is the hands-on use of Isadora (created by troika ranch founder mark coniglio) in installation and live performance (music, theater, dance). The Extended Now: an Intensive class focused on site-specific performance and installation (part of the milkbar summer workshop series)
7:00 to 9:30 on July 23rd, 24th, 2:30 - 9:30 (w dinner break) July 25th, 26th, 27th
The afternoon studio time is a joint work session with Mary Armentrout's performance workship from 2:30 to 5:30 on the 25th, 26th, 27th and culminates in joint potluck and showing of work on the evening of the 27th. You're encouraged to take both classes.
The Extended Now explores technical and compositional strategies for integrating live and interactive media into the creation of site-specific installation and performance. The 5 day workshop is taught in tandem with Mary Armentrout’s inside out / upside down performance workshop. The first half of the week we will focus on the development of technical skills with an emphasis on using live video / sound / sensors with Isadora. The second half of the week we will take that knowledge to create short site-specific interventions in and around the giant industrial wasteland / site-specific lab that is the Sunshine Biscuit Factory complex.
